Reflection on how we have created a video lesson using Camtasia

Teaching and learning have become effective in this modern world of technology. We have created a video tutorial using Camtasia. I used Camtasia Studio to capture computer screen, live video screens and shots. 

Definition of Camtasia studio

Software used for creating a video tutorial is known as Camtasia studio. This software provides lots of opportunities such as recording video, inserting images, sounds to make the lesson effective.

The steps in creating a video using Camtasia studio depends on the type of video to be created. We need to follow the following steps to create a video lesson using images, video clips, sounds, text, and PowerPoint:

Steps to create Camtasia studio

1. Start with a great plan

The tutorial videos creating begins with great planning. I considered my audience while creating a video lesson and choose a tutorial topic that would best help my target group. I had my video tutorial on "Light through different medium" from class six Science.

Step 2. Prepare a power point presentation

I used words of everyday conversations to give a smooth, natural feel in my video tutorial. Practiced reading and explaining the lesson, planned on the power point again and again till it flows smoothly.  Read the script aloud to make sure it flows smoothly. Got some feedback and  accepted my errors to change for good.

Step 3. Record the audio narration

I chose dinning room as a quiet place to record my audio when everybody went to sleep. When I was recording the script, I make sure to speak slowly and clearly. When I made a mistake, I simply pause and start again carefully. I removed mistakes when all my recordings are finished using camtasia studio.

Processes 

1. Double click on the Camtasia icon. (Welcome Camtasia dialogue box will appear
2. Click on the 'Close' button to continue. 

 

 How to insert images

1. Click on the 'Import media'.
2. Browse the image from the destination source.
3. Select the particular image that you want to insert.
4. Click on open button. (the image will appear in the clipboard)
5. Drag the image to 'show timeline'.

How to insert a video clip

1. Click on 'Import media' under 'Add' menu.
2. Browse the video clip from the destination source.
3. Select the particular video clip that you want to insert.
4. Click on open button.
5. Drag the video clip to show timeline.

How to insert audio

1. Choose or select import media.
2. Browse the audio clip/sound from the destination source.
3. Select the particular audio that you want to insert.
4. Click on open button.
5. Drag the audio clip to show timeline.
6. Make adjustment of audio to the image using drag arrow.

How to insert text

1. Click on Title clips.
2. Type title name (depend on what video you are creating).
3. In the text area, you can type the detail of the video to be created (example; states of matter, properties, etc)
4. Change the background colour, text colour & fonts.
5. Then click the “OK” button. 
6. Drag a text to show timeline or storyboard 

We can also add a transition to make the video flow smooth. 

How to insert transition

1. In the edit menu, choose or select transitions option.
2. Then select any transition effects to the images or video.
3. Drag the transition effect to the small square box (for Camtasia Studio 6)
4. Drag the transition effect in between the images or videos, where you want the transition. (Camtasia Studio 8)

How to record PowerPoint slides

1. Click on record the screen in Camtasia.
2. Open the PowerPoint and keep on 'slide show' mode to record the screen.
3. Then click on Camtasia Recorder.
4. Narrate if you want to along with the slide show.
5. Click on the stop button to save the file.
6. Click on save and edit button.
7. Save as video file .avi files.

How to Publish a video lesson

1. Click Produce Video As or Press Ctrl +P.
2. Choose a custom production setting.
3. Click next button.  
4. Select WMV-windows Media Video.
5. Camtasia studio best quality and file size(recommended).
6. Then next button, again next button, Next button.
7. Type the Production name for Camtasia studio.
8. Save the video file to the desktop using the browser button.
9. Click on Finish button. (The video will be published)

Open newpowerpoint presentation
Type the title

To insert image:

Download images needed from google
To download image: right clickon the image and select save as,
                                  type the name of the image, seleck location (Desktop) and  click save
click on insert from Menu bar
seleck image and click insert.

To add animation:

click on animation in Menu bar
select the pictures to be animated
select custom animation

To add music:

click on insert
select sound (select the sound)
Click insert

To add text:

Click on insert
select text box
type the text

Google Classroom

Concept of Google classroom 

It is free collaboration tool used by teacher and students for easy enhance of their teaching and learning. The primary purpose is to streamline the process of sharing files between teachers and students.

 It helps in the following way; 1) Google Drive for prodects creations and distribution, Google Docs, Sheets and slides for writing, Gmail for communication, Google calendar for scheduling. In that way Google Classroom saves time, effort and makes the works much easier.

Another advantage is that every class can create a separate folder in the respective user's Drive, where the student can submit their work to be graded by a teacher. Therefore, by using 'Google classroom', we will be able to save our work and the record of students performance for future reference.

• Go to chrome browser
• type web store chrome in chrome browser
• click on chrome web store
• type Google classroom in the search box
• click on add to chrome
• click on add extension
• click on turn on sync
• close the browser
• type the ID and password
• click on google apps
• click on classroom
• click on the plus sign and join the class
• type the class code and join

How to create google classroom

• click on menu
• click on the plus sign
• click on create a class
• fill in the details
• click on create

How to post the materials

• click on classwork
• click on create
• go to material
• fill in the details
• click on attachment
• click on the drag from your device
• select the files
• open and upload the materials

 

Steps to post questions

1. Go to your class
2. Click class work 
3. Click on option questions 
4. Write down questions
5. Click allow if you want students to edit your work
6. Then click Ask and then post 

 How to integrate Google Classroom in teaching and learning?

Ans: I can integrate google classroom by creating Google classroom and inviting my students to make class interactive. I can post questions in our google classroom along with marks and let students to answer it. Then we can comment on their answers. i can engage my students through different sets of questions such as multoplechoice, short answer questions, essay type questions, and quiz. Moreover, I can even post videos related to the content area topic along with some  related questions.
